Mining Hotel or Home: Where to Host Your ASIC and What's Cheaper
Home mining vs a mining hotel compared: tariff, noise, heat, maintenance and security. What to choose in 2026 — a breakdown by Trade M.
Buying an ASIC is half the job. The second important question is where to host it. Let's compare two options — home and a mining hotel (colocation) — and when each makes more sense.
Mining at home
Pros: full control, no hosting fees, hardware right next to you.
Cons that are easy to forget:
- Noise. An industrial ASIC is 70–80 dB, like a loud vacuum cleaner that never stops.
- Heat. A single miner puts out as much heat as a powerful heater — a problem in summer.
- Power grid. Household wiring isn't always rated for a sustained 3+ kW load.
- Tariff. A household tariff is usually higher than an industrial one, which directly cuts profit.
At home it's really only comfortable to run compact home models with low power draw.
Mining hotel (colocation)
This means hosting your hardware at an industrial site. You remain the owner of the ASIC, while the operator handles the infrastructure.
What you get:
- An industrial tariff — lower than household, which directly improves your margin.
- 380V power with a dedicated transformer and stable voltage.
- Professional cooling — no overheating in summer.
- 24/7 monitoring and reboot on request.
- Security: 24/7 video surveillance and guards.
- No noise or heat in your home.
When each is better
| Criterion | Home | Mining hotel |
|---|---|---|
| Small hardware, low power draw | ✓ | |
| Industrial miners (S21, S23) | ✓ | |
| High household tariff | ✓ | |
| Several machines and scaling | ✓ | |
| Quiet and no heat matter | ✓ |
The bigger and more powerful your fleet, the clearer the hotel's advantage.
How much it costs
At the Trade M mining hotel the tariff is UAH 3.6/kWh, electricity is paid one month in advance, and our commission is only 10% of the mined coin. An industrial 380V site, 24/7 monitoring, with locations in Kyiv and Dnipro.
